Bart is the Founder of Rent One Online and Managing Director of Kali-Kona Real Estate Investments, LLC, a real estate investment company with multiple divisions including the 1 888 TRY KONA vacation rental management group. Rent One Online is the result of the perfect marriage of Bart’s vacation rental management experience and his extensive background in technology and internet commerce.

Bart has over 15 years of experience as a designer and developer of innovative Internet-based applications. He was the lead inventor and patent holder for Web-based marketplaces (US Patent 6,125,391), XML/E-Commerce Servers (US Patent 6,226,675), and the Commerce One Global Trading Web™ (US Patent 6,542,912).

Previously, Bart worked as the Chief Technology Officer of Veo Systems, the leader in Business to Business XML and E-Commerce Technology, and became the Chief Architect for Commerce One after Veo Systems was acquired by Commerce One. Commerce One’s public equity offering in 1999 was the most successful IPO of the year. Prior to Veo Systems, Bart was the Chief Technologist at Intranet Partners, an internet consulting firm, where he was involved the architecture, design and implementation of Intranets and Extranets for Fortune 500 companies.

Prior to Intranet Partners, Bart was co-founder of Virtual Vineyards, where he designed and implemented the first-ever full-featured e-commerce system on the Web that included credit card transactions, dynamic 1-1 marketing, a shopping basket, order calculator, self-serve customer service features, and the back office functions of content publishing, order processing, real-time inventory, accounting and supply chain management. Prior to Virtual Vineyards, Bart worked at The Santa Cruz Operation (SCO), where he developed hypertext, Internet and Web-compatible information systems, and was part of the team responsible for planning SCO's first intranet.

Bart holds a multi-disciplinary degree in Human Information Processing and Communications from the University of California, San Diego and has been a frequent speaker at corporate and conference events, including keynotes, and has served as an industry expert on numerous discussion panels.
